Was it 80 Minutes of Magic for You!

March 10, 20242 min read

On Saturday evening, I enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining game of rugby on the television.

England versus Ireland in the Six Nations, is a fixture that’s always filled with promise.

And on Saturday evening, it didn’t fail to deliver.

Ireland appeared to be heading for victory, until Marcus Smith struck a drop goal with the final kick of the game to win the test match by a single point.

It was a great advert for international rugby.

80 minutes of magic.

Other television Programs I enjoyed last week included Dragon’s Den, a BBC documentary, MAFS Australia (not my choice I promise😂), Sky News and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (definitely my choice).

Now in the grand scheme of life, I don’t think I watch much television.

But it got me thinking about business.

Because, when I’m working with small business owners, the first thing I always stress is the significance of finding some time to work on the important things in your business.

The things that will take your business to where you want it to be.

You see, in business you get to choose where you want to be.

It’s a unique opportunity.

However, the reality is that most people don’t take the time to do it.

And it’s really frustrating.

Because, if you were taking 60-90 minutes a day, 5 days a week, to focus on the important stuff in your business, your business would be in a significantly better place, 12 months from now.

That’s a fact.

Yet people don’t do it.

The reason?

They’re stuck in the weeds.

Perhaps you’re one of them?

Stuck in the day-to-day jobs that absorb your time.

Slowly killing your ability to grow your business.

Now just to be clear, I do get that many of those jobs are important and have to be done.

But you have to find that little bit of extra time to focus on your business.

Squeeze it out of your day.

Prioritise it.

Because it really makes the difference when it comes to growing your business, taking it to where you want it to be.

For most business owners, your business is one of the most important things in your life.

If I can find in excess of 6 hours to watch television in my week, surely, I can find the same amount of time to work on my business?

And it’s the same for you.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t watch TV, however, something you might want to give some thought to this week is how much television you’re watching, in comparison to the time you’re spending working ‘on’ your business.

It may give you clarity on finding a way to get out of the weeds, at least for a few productive hours.

It will pay massive dividends.

Have a great week.
