Are You One of the Top Business Pupils?
Last week I had the absolute pleasure of being the guest speaker for the Elite Butchers of Northern Ireland.
I was invited by my good friend Michael O'Kane, who I first met back in 2006.
Michael was one of the first butchers I heard talk about the importance of marketing your business.
My job was to deliver a talk that would Motivate, Educate and Inspire the best butchers in Northern Ireland - quite a tall order.
In preparing for the talk I had a great conversation with Michael around the subject of motivating, educating and inspiring.
During our conversation Michael said something that really resonated with me.
Amongst other things, Michael teaches food hygiene and I teach small business marketing.
What Michael shared with me was that he always finds the easiest people to teach are the ones who want to learn.
Quite obvious when you think about it.
But fascinating.
As a business owner I've always been fascinated in learning new skills.
Marketing.
Operations.
Personal development.
Finance.
Technology.
I believe it's had a huge influence on the success I've had.
My talk was well received by the Elite Butchers of Northern Ireland.
I've had some amazing messages following the talk and what they taught me was, there was a room full of people who wanted to learn.
As a result, their businesses will all benefit.
Significantly.
